Building upon the framework of the National Eucharistic Revival, our diocese will begin its own Eucharistic renewal in May 2024 by inviting all parish, school and diocesan leaders into a period of intense formation in the spirituality and theology of the Eucharist, followed by offering the same formation offered for all the faithful. Our Diocesan Eucharistic Renewal will build on the work already underway to provide opportunities for us to encounter the Lord in truth, beauty and goodness, by providing additional opportunities for us to fall more deeply in love with the Eucharistic Lord, and to receive him in Holy Communion with minds and hearts renewed.
We will inaugurate our diocesan Eucharistic Renewal the weeks of May 19 through June 2, 2024. From the evening of Sunday, May 19, 2024 (Pentecost Sunday) through Wednesday, May 22, we will host the national Eucharistic Processions that will originate at the tomb of Blessed Michael McGivney in New Haven. The procession will walk through our Diocese, starting in the city of Bridgeport, stopping at five parishes, and ending with All-Night Adoration. Over the next three days, the procession will continue on foot and by car to Fairfield, Ridgefield, Norwalk, Darien, Stamford and Greenwich.
The remaining nine days through June 2 will offer a variety of spiritual and formational events that will celebrate our belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. On Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM, a diocesan Corpus Christi Mass will be held at Fairfield University, with more than 3,000 clergy and guests expected to attend. As the 14-day Eucharistic Renewal inauguration concludes, “The One” will continue its work to invite all believers to deepen our relationship with the Eucharistic Lord and to accompany each other as missionary disciples in the world.
